Experience, Collaboration and Experimentation = Magical Effects

Amy Van Every is a technical colorist and artist whose career has been defined by developing deep expertise in modifying textiles, leathers, feathers, buttons, and many other substrates using dyes, textile inks, paints of all types, and even dyed sawdust to transform them into a new visual language.

Her work combines material knowledge, color expertise, and inventive problem-solving. Amy understands how surface, color application, texture, and shading behave in the studio, and how they are transformed on stage under theatrical lighting and on camera. She has worked closely with other artists, designers, and directors to translate a design or concept into a believable or magical effect.

While much of her experience has been rooted in mainstage performances,  her work also extends beyond the theater to film, commercial projects, and specialized interior applications. She is known for her willingness to experiment and for her ability to develop custom techniques.

Amy’s work reflects a combination of artistry, technical mastery, and collaboration. In this next chapter of her career, she offers her experience and knowledge through consulting, mentoring, lectures, workshops, and professional guidance for artists, designers, and creative professionals of many kinds.
