Ombréing is a subtle color change from dark to light, this may involve only a value change but can also include a color change. The approach is determined by the desired effect. With this velvet dress, I began the process by starting with the darkest color at the hem of the dress moving lighter towards the bodice. To achieve the design I ombréd silk organza in the same color and this was overlayed on the bodice.
